Stenay - more interesting ordinary.

Stenay, like Neufchatel, on the face of it seems very mundane. In its own way, however, it was lovely, in a quiet, way, and had hidden charms.

The motorhome aire by the river port is well run by the Office de Tourism.
good weather helps too!
Just across the road from the aire is an old mill, complete with wooden wheel.

The riverside walks are uncrowded, and filled with birdsong...
especially lovely at evening.

The town itself has a few ancient arcaded squares - though most of the buildings have been modernised.

Sternay boasts an impressive Hotel de Ville

an even more impressive bandstand.

and a garage that looks as if it still could tune you twin-carbs or re-bore your cylinder head!

then there is the Musee de la Biere
